In order to achieve greatness in your sport, you need to take part in focused practice. This is different than what we ordinarily consider practice to be. This means focusing intently on specific areas of your game you wish to improve upon, and then receiving immediate feedback to determine whether you are improving or not. Independent practice, even for team sports, is a key component to this theory, and it is important that you recognize what areas of your individual game you would like to improve, and work with mentors/trainers to determine the best way for you to eliminate these weaknesses. Train smarter, not harder.
Deliberate practice is the proven way to achieve greatness.
